Christian Bruni is a self-taught portrait photographer based in Italy. His works communicate the characteristics of people – aesthetic and otherwise – in combination with a distinctive visual aesthetic. In this long-term project, human figures are shrouded in cloth. Bruni’s goal is to represent alienated human beings who are alone and without identity. His use of light and colour is influenced by Flemish and Renaissance painting, pop and the 1970s. Bruni is always making new observations and finding fresh avenues for research.
