Alex Stone, who originally trained in theatre design, reimagines and alters spaces by physically retracing memories and places. This process addresses absence and seeks insight from “the fleeting.” Working across sculpture, interventions and performance, they examine how individuals are embedded within their surroundings. Their practice also explores the “untameable” qualities inherent in domestic spaces, revealing tensions between control, memory and the lived environment. In Impart, they explore the memory of a conversation with their mum through domestic objects, using smell and light as sensuous materials to create dialogue and tension.
