Datascapes examines how perception translates chaos into order. Bart Nelissen reduces digital cloudscapes into geometric fragments - squares pulled from larger images, each representing a bit of data. Digital compositing combines these fragments to form new visual structures. Intersecting image layers transform data into information, revealing hidden patterns. The work addresses the overwhelming accumulation of digital data and the human effort to extract meaning from it. Datascapes meditates on the interface between abstraction, technology, and the human urge to rationalise the natural world through pattern recognition.
