Claudia Behrensen’s ‘Sacred Bond’ reflects on the fractured relationship between humanity and nature, as shaped by egoism and indifference in contemporary society. These attitudes often justify abusive interventions in the environment, causing irreversible damage. Here, Behrensen imagines a dystopian near future, where only archival images remain as testimony to the living world human beings failed to respect and protect. You are left as a mere spectator. This photograph was taken in Epecuén, Buenos Aires, after the artist staged a large forest image. It emphasises desolation, loss and the aftermath of environmental destruction.
