Edgar Martins has worked closely with mental health and suicide prevention charities, as well as bereavement support groups. He met with and befriended individuals who wrote suicide letters or missives intending harm to others, only to reconsider. For many, this writing served as a vital, therapeutic process. Last year, Martins began photographing these documents, using medical imaging techniques and equipment to obscure the content of the letters. The project originated from a 2018 collaboration with the Institute of Legal Medicine.
