Elisabeth Ajtay is a Romanian-born trans-national artist currently living and working in Cologne, Germany. Her conceptual, process-based practice is rooted in photography, but extends into drawing, video and collage. Her means of expression shifts with her physical location. Working across languages and cultural systems, she examines the social and psychological structures of Western society, exploring themes of belonging, space, darkness, loss and transformation. Her work constructs visual frameworks that articulate what resists verbal expression, tracing the shifting boundaries between inner and outer worlds. In Dialog, she extends her Moon Alphabet and photograms to explore migration, language, and emotional states through abstracted linguistic forms and sculptural imagery.
