Gary LaPointe Jr.’s practice examines the material frameworks shaping both built and natural environments, as well as aspects of identity. Through sculpture, mixed-media and drawing, his work interrogates the systems and rituals that govern our interactions with these spaces. Rejecting linear narratives, LaPointe’s creations illuminate themes of environmental change, queerness, desire, and the fluid boundaries between language, form, and materiality. His interdisciplinary approach challenges viewers to reconsider how meaning and identity are constructed and transformed within ever-evolving cultural landscapes.
