İlke Şahin, born in Istanbul in 1992 and now based in London, works across sculpture, installation, film and material performance. Grounded in architectural thinking and material chemistry, her practice investigates self-destruction as a form of existence. Through performative sculptures and material research, she reflects on her psychological and dermatological experiences. Embracing transformation, Şahin’s work captures impermanence, positioning herself, materials and environment as co-authors in a mutable creative process. Her art invites contemplation of change, vulnerability and the evolving relationships between body and matter.
