Jarrett Murphy is a Brooklyn-based photographer, originally from outside Philadelphia, and a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology. Working primarily on film, he creates surreal nocturnal landscapes that explore the tension between human control and the natural world. Drawing on a background in studio lighting, Murphy uses long exposures and carefully orchestrated illumination to transform familiar environments into uncanny scenes that blur the line between reality and fiction. His ongoing series, ‘The Ecotone’, examines nature as both shaped by and resistant to human intervention, reflecting his evolving relationship with wilderness, artifice, beauty and the unknown.
