Joanna Manousis

Celeste (2024)

Joanna Manousis is a visual artist working with glass sculpture, with a particular focus on cast glass mirrors. Her practice explores perception, reflection and the shifting relationship between viewer, object and space. Through material experimentation and research-led making, she creates contemplative encounters with light, memory, and self-awareness. Her installation Celeste (2024) consists of 440 mirrored glass prisms forming a shifting field of reflection inspired by Indra’s Net, a profound philosophical metaphor for ancient Hindu and Buddhist traditions, used to describe the interconnectedness of the universe. In the piece, mirrored voids and refracted light evoke interconnection, perception and collectivity.
