Julie Derbyshire is a photographic artist with a research and process-led practice encompassing acts of fabrication, manipulation and disruption. Informed by art history and her own lived experience, Julie's work explores themes of fragility, transience and the universality of the human condition. She holds an MA Photography, London College of Communication and a BA Photography, University of Westminster and has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally. Derbyshire’s practice is influenced by Dutch vanitas painting, particularly its reflections on mortality and narrative, using constructed photography to convey the intertwined beauty and darkness of existence.
