Julie Derbyshire is inspired by the Dutch Masters vanitas paintings, both for their reflections on the transience of life and their ability to convey narrative. Her work follows a similar visual language, express an awareness of human fragility and using photography to impact both the beauty and darkness of existence. All We Find, All We Leave Behind makes use of found objects, including food items and foraged foliage, to create similar still lifes, creating a series of tableaux. Derbyshire holds an MA Photography, London College of Communication and a BA Photography, University of Westminster. She has exhibited in the UK and internationally.
