Kialy Tihngang

Fetissoes (2023)

Glasgow-based multidisciplinary artist Kialy Tihngang weaves sculpture, video, textiles and animation into a research-driven critique of colonial misrepresentation and cultural extraction. Engaging with West African heritage, Nollywood’s dark humor and retrofuturism, her work interrogates Blackness, queerness and British identity. Through satirical, absurdist artefacts and collaborations with performers, Tihngang challenges dominant cultural narratives, exposing structural oppression and provoking reflection on history and identity.
