Laura Hope is a mixed- media figurative artist based in Oxfordshire. She received a first-class honours degree in illustration at Cardiff School of Art and Design before going on to work as a memorial artist, hand etching portraits onto gravestones. Hope’s artwork has been exhibited across the UK, winning several awards and is included in private collections. Her practice is centred around unspoken emotions and quiet inner lives. Created from her own staged photographs of models, it is often a response to memories and relationships. Through composition, cropping and reversing the image, she conveys an uneasy narrative, which shines a light on subtle feelings that often hide in the shadows. Her figures live in a world that is both nostalgic and present, hinting at another era.
