Lee Yun is a Chicago-based media artist working across film, installation, and real-time audiovisual systems. His practice explores how gestures and figures translate across time, space, and culture, addressing memory and identity. Through experimental editing, repetition, and media translation, his work destabilizes narrative and examines diasporic experience and historical rupture. Lee Yun’s single-channel video Released by the Tides, created in Tainan, reflects on memory and ritual at the shoreline, where time and stories move like tides. Inspired by Taiwanese folk practices, it layers gestures, burial, and offerings into a cyclical visual rhythm, where images repeat and dissolve between presence and absence.
