Shifting Luminosity (2014)

Liz West creates vivid environments that mix luminous colour and radiant light. Working across a variety of mediums, she provokes a heightened sensory awareness in the viewer that explores sensory phenomena and taps into our own entrenched relationships to colour. Shifting Luminosity uses minimal materials to direct the flow of artificial light, creating an ambient spatial drawing and is part of a series based on research into colour theory and light fields. The hues are taken from the Munsell Farnsworth 100 Hue Colour Vision Test, a test of the human visual system often used to check for colour blindness or superior colour vision.
