Matias Helmikuu is a Finnish outsider artist who creates experimental music and abstract digital art. Most of his works are constructed from photographs, but usually the end result resembles an abstract painting. He is deeply interested in extremities in art and often aims for maximum outcome and emotional impact. Common themes in his works are nature (especially trees), the universe, culture, science and society. His working method is improvisational and he takes full advantage of serendipity.
