Matias Helmikuu is a Finnish outsider artist who creates experimental music and abstract visual art with digital tools. Most of his works are constructed from photographs, but usually the end result does not resemble a photo collage but is more like an abstract painting. He is interested in extremities in art and often aims for maximum outcome. Common themes in his works are nature (especially trees), the universe, culture, science and society. His working method is improvisational and he takes advantage of serendipity.
