Meixuan Li is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily with glass and mixed media. These materials – and how they interact with light, gravity, heat – form the basis of her explorations into the intersection of nature, perception and materiality. Her installations are influenced by Eastern philosophy and often merge traditional techniques with contemporary thinking. Constellations (2025) reimagines abandoned rebar (a steel bar or mesh used as a tensioning device in concrete and masonry structures) as symbols of resilience and transformation. These industrial remnants, once hidden within the skeletons of buildings, are collected from the streets and reshaped through intuitive, tactile processes into delicate, star-like forms. By turning structural debris into gentle constellations, the project reflects on the overlooked materials that shape the urban landscape.
