Miranda Lopatkin

Open Window (2025)

Emotion emerges from layers, reflections, and shadows. That which seems familiar can also seem strange and require further inspection. Miranda doesn't use photoshop, instead preferring to work with 35mm slides projected onto people or places, or straight filmic photographs capturing uncanny reflections. In Open Window, she explores barriers and freedom of expression, examining what we hold back and what we allow ourselves to reveal to the world. The artist took archival slides and projected them onto a model, capturing the result with a digital camera.
