Monica Gorini is an expert in para-verbal languages – the non-verbal vocal cues that accompany words, such as tone, pitch, pace and volume. She gained experience in this field through studies, as well as many years of working with blind and visually impaired people – teaching theatre and sculpture, as well as art and poetry workshops. In her practice, Gorini makes use of different languages: painting, sculpture, photography, video and installation. She takes a cross-modal, multi-sensory approach to nature, involving many aspects of knowledge: aesthetic, botanical, mathematical, philosophical, poetic, scientific and spiritual. The Door (2021) is an environmental installation comprising a thin iron structure framing a landscape. Here, the natural setting becomes “a work of art” in itself.
