Niko Kapa is an interdisciplinary artist. The essence of his work lies in experimentation and the exploration of emotion. His practice investigates how cultural and collective identity shapes an individual’s sense of self, whilst commenting on the overwhelming desire to belong. Kapa's works range from sculpture and installation to mixed media and photography. Alaintiqalat (2024) is a project addressing autism awareness in the Middle East. He collaborated with scientists and therapists, using his own recorded bodily data and neural activity to digitally manipulate Islamic patterns and Arabic drone music. The resulting distortions and glitches encourage viewers to discern imagery from among the motifs. The piece foregrounds the subjectivity of perception and visual interpretation, especially when considered through a neurodivergent lens.
