Nisha Duggal produces researched, multi-platform projects and workshops that frequently invite engagement and collaboration. During these sessions, Duggal collects multiple fragments for synthesis into singular artworks across print, paint, sculpture and moving image. Working with broad issues around freedom and control, the artist aims to uncover how ideology and bias – embedded within our political, cultural and social structures – filter into everyday lived experiences. Previous projects have centred on human and animal migration; concepts of national and spiritual identity; landscape as a linking object; the psychological fallout of digitisation; and creative play in response to trauma. These include residencies and commissions for Tate, Baltic, PEER, In Situ, The National Trust, Royal Overseas League, the NHS, Create and South London Gallery.
