Omar Torres’ practice is built around our complex emotions, and the tireless search to find balance in our everyday lives. Ensayos del Colapso aptly depicts the notions of risk, balance, decision and consequence, exemplified through carefully constructed scenes on the brink of collapse. Here, objects are about to fall, ropes on the verge of snapping, glasses ready to spill over, pins about to break. The elements within the frame all depend on each other to coexist in a space. Ultimately, Torres expresses the vulnerability of the human condition: reflected through a series of minimal, yet universal, objects.
