Paul Alty is a multimedia artist who combines his experience as a lighting designer and musician into large-scale, venue-filing immersive sensory artworks. Alty has been involved in lighting design for decades, but his artistic practice is new. Using light, lasers, projections and self-composed soundtracks, Alty seeks to create works to be enjoyed, not “read.” His work has appeared at the Tate Liverpool. His goal is to create atmospheres and transport audiences – all whilst investigating concepts of time, space and mortality.
