Phil Barber manipulates film, moving image and installation to ask questions about performativity, simulation and the (im)possibility of truth. Supplementing this practice with art writing, Barber explores misinformation and conspiracy as strange new accessories to a “flailing contemporary masculinity.” The writing and installation form a disorientating, dark and poetic exploration of our relationship to reality in a post-internet, hyperreal world.
