We live in a fast-paced digital era defined by social media, news feeds and misinformation. Qianyue Sun, an artist based in Shanghai, China, responds to this moment in time through printmaking. Her practice revolves around the transformation and perception of information, viewing it as "an essential energy permeating our world." She explores how data migrates across different media, keenly observing how repetitive, fragmented knowledge affects human thought and language. In Who Am I (2023), she treats a blank sheet of paper as an individual, reshaping it into a work of art through the inclusion of facial features, symbols and other visual elements. Sun employs printmaking’s transfer process to create works aligned with her philosophy.
