René Algesheimer

Aphairesi (2018-2023)

René Algesheimer has experience in both science and the arts, which he applies to his studies of “wonder.” For him, photography is a poetic and allegorical medium: a means of discovering the enduring connections between parts of a whole. The landscapes he photographs are connective structures of a “higher order”, which interact with intimate forms of “lower order”. His project APHAIRESI follows Post-war art critic Clement Greenberg‘s ideas about Abstract Expressionism, which celebrated the movement as a way of harnessing geometric forms to express a wide array of emotions.
