Sara Campaci’s series explores the elusive nature of a unified self. Each composition assembles disjointed elements, serving as a metaphor for the complex and conflicting forces that shape Identity. At first, the forms suggest continuity, but on closer inspection, their dissonance emerges, revealing a disorienting visual experience steeped in melancholy and introspection. Collage is used conceptually, to reinforce the sense of a layered self. The images embrace the beauty and complexity of multiplicity. To be whole is not to be seamless, but to contain within us the many selves we have been – and the ones we are still becoming.
