Sarah Strachan is a transdisciplinary artist exploring how ways of being, knowing and belonging shape ecological awareness. Her ceramic sculpture series, like Cluster, emerge from deep conversations with people, place, the land and the materials and objects associated with these. By evoking the familiar yet subtly strange her works reflect the polymorphic and protean nature of environmental changes. In Cluster, a developing series, she creates ceramic forms inspired by slipper limpets and their stacking lifecycle, using touch and transformation to explore in-betweenness and the unsettling familiarity of shifting natural forms, reflecting ecological change through tactile sculptural processes.
