Sarah Strachan

Cluster III (2025)

Sarah Strachan is a transdisciplinary artist exploring how ways of being, knowing and belonging shape ecological awareness. Her ceramic sculptures emerge from deep conversations with people, places and associated materials and objects. By evoking "the familiar yet subtly strange", her works reflect the polymorphic and protean nature of environmental changes. The Cluster series responds to the phenomenon of "stacking" in the lifecycle of sequential hermaphrodites like Crepidula fornicate – otherwise known as slipper limpets. Strachan's tactile creations are inspired by touch, capturing the unsettling feeling of encountering something known, yet unfamiliar.
