She creates conceptual cameras to question what photography can become, rather than focusing on what it has been. Alt(a_e)r was borne from the home videos of S.F. Smith, which the artist acquired in 2019. Through genealogical research and artistic manipulation, Chefalo explored how viewing and preserving memories becomes an act of creation, transforming microscopic movement into tangible experiences that transcend individual identity.
