Sophie Chefalo’s photographic work explores themes of power, memory and privacy by focusing on the hidden dimensions of space and time. She pushes the boundaries of traditional photography by designing conceptual cameras that disrupt the usual flow of time. Her images highlight the tension between the photographic device and what it captures, showing how pictures can both reveal and obscure details. Chefalo explores how meaning is shaped through what is present and what is missing, blending historical techniques with critical ethnography to examine how images influence our understanding of reality. Her work was recently shown at the Horniman Museum in London, as well as in other galleries across the UK.
