Thomas Kuppler

Between Now and Then (2024)

Thomas Kuppler’s work spans painting, photography, poetry and sculpture. Originally from Germany, he moved to London in the 1990s after leaving work in the hotel and IT industries. He continued to exhibit internationally, and graduated in 2014 with an MA in Photography from UAL. His imagery integrates various media and methods – including abstraction, experimentation and obfuscation – to communicate anxieties surrounding both current events and the future. He describes it as “a contemplation of the seen and unseen.” Kuppler’s series, inspired by the bacterium Xylella Fastidiosa, reflects on global political systems and rising nationalist and discriminatory tendencies through experimental deconstruction of photographic form.
