Japanese artist Toshiyuka Sato graduated from the University of Tsukuba School of Art and Design in the 1990s and has since dedicated his practice to sculpture. In Cut #02, he produces ambiguous, jagged sculptures by stacking sheets of paper, visualising the feelings instability and meaninglessness that people often feel in modern life. Sato has received recognition for his work all over the world, including a nomination for Kyoto Design Award (2021); Kamiwaza (Paper Art) Grand prix (2018); JR Tower Art Planets Grand prix; and the 4th Geibunkyo Award.
