Cut #02 (2025)

Having graduated from the University of Tsukuba School of Art and Design in the 1990’s, Japanese artist Toshiyuki Sato produces ambiguous, jagged sculptures by stacking sheets of paper. The purpose of his work is to realize an unstable, meaningless and non representational world, while exploring ways to create art as paper-in-itself. Sato has received recognition for his work all over the world, including: a nomination for Kyoto Design Award (2021), Kamiwaza (Paper Art) Grand prix, sponsor prize in (2018) as well as nominations for JR Tower Art Planets Grand prix, nominated and the 4th Geibunkyo Award.
