Yasuaki Matsuura’s work uses the camera to explore how memory is shaped by the systems we use every day, but rarely notice. Drawing on over a decade of experience designing cameras and imaging technologies, he looks at how platforms, cloud services and AI influence what we capture, store and later see again. His camera-based sculptures slow these processes down, bringing friction back into acts that are usually automatic. They turn image-making into a physical experience and ask who is really shaping how we remember the past.
