Yen-Chao Lin is a Taipei-born, Montreal-based artist. Having grown up in a multifaith family, she is interested in spirituality, divination arts and alchemy. A natural history enthusiast and avid collector, she gathers botanical and industrial specimens to investigate material history, objecthood and folklore. By means of intuitive play, collaboration and collecting, her practice incorporates various craft techniques such as vitreous enamelling, metalsmithing and glass. These processes culminate in installations, sculptures and experimental films. Invisible Landscape is an experimental film shot in Taiwan over 18 years, using Super 8 to explore liminal spaces between life and spirit through hand-developed imagery and narration tracing absence.
