Yuming "Griffin" Liu is a Chinese-born, US-based sculptor working primarily with miniatures. His practice constructs surreal, poetic scenes that explore displacement, bureaucracy, and the fragile tension between human agency and institutional control. Drawing from personal immigration experience, Liu uses scale to render vast systems intimate, inviting viewers into quiet, uncanny spaces shaped by memory, solitude, and connection. Edge of the World extends this narrative, depicting an impossible threshold where imagined escape is revealed as illusion, and institutional spaces dissolve into deceptive environments of control, stillness, and quiet submission.
