Yuming “Griffin” Liu

Edge of the World (2025)

Yuming "Griffin" Liu is a Chinese-born, US-based sculptor working primarily with miniatures. His practice constructs surreal, poetic scenes that explore displacement, bureaucracy and the fragile tension between human agency and institutional control. Drawing from personal experiences of immigration, Liu uses scale to render vast, often complex, systems intimate. Here, viewers are invited into quiet, uncanny spaces that reflect being part of these bureaucratic processes. Edge of the World extends this narrative, depicting an impossible threshold where imagined escape is revealed as illusion, and institutional spaces dissolve into deceptive environments of control, stillness and quiet submission.
