Erin Coates is an artist living in Perth, Western Australia, who works across drawing, sculpture and film. Her practice draws from her background as a climber and freediver as well as her interests in biology and genre film culture. Her process regularly involves physical interactions with submerged, enclosed and elevated spaces. The works that are produced examine humanity’s relationship with the natural world, physical thresholds and the essence of transformed bodies – both human and non-human.
