Berlin-based Liz Miller Kovacs reflects on the surreal conditions of the Anthropocene and envisions potential future narratives about civilization. Her predominantly lens-based Supernatural series also incorporates sculptural elements, merging material exploration with environmental interventions. Miller Kovacs documents and stages scenes in landscapes transformed by industries of extraction. She reimagines the interplay between the figure and the landscape from a female perspective, reclaiming a genre that has historically been dominated by a male gaze. The artist draws powerful parallels between our exploitation of nature and the objecthood of the feminine, all the while envisioning multiple future histories and artefacts.
