Kathryn Stevens makes sculptural forms influenced by shipbuilders lofting plans and creating work, which is inspired by Cumbria’s natural and industrial landscape. Surface treatments are applied layered upon another, entwining the rich history of her birthplace with her family heritage. Formulating her own clay body and glaze recipes by using local raw materials and industrial waste, demonstrates the area's geological formation. This helps her to cement the work in the field of narrative ceramics.
